On September 22, 2023 CREATE was thrilled to welcome filmmakers Kelsey Bascom and Arnon Manor to Winnipeg!
Bascom and Manor are the creators behind the feature film ‘Quarter’, which follows the life of a woman living with Type 1 diabetes. Our students have been creating animated scenes for the film, and were treated to a work-in-progress screening of the film during the visit.
CREATE has been working closely with Manor since 2020, when he asked students to create animated content for a short film based on a spoken word poem by Timothy Ware-Hill. The film, called ‘Cops and Robbers’ was long-listed for an Academy Award and won a Peabody Award. In addition to being a filmmaker, Manor is also the Senior VP of Visual Effects Production at Sony Pictures.
CREATE students are currently working on another social justice animated sequence with Manor.
