ABOUT

Sisler CREATE’s post-high film program is a FREE, intensive year of training offered to high school graduates in Manitoba. Students learn to make both documentary and narrative short films, as well client-driven work such as promotional videos and commercials. Students are taught how to use professional, industry-standard equipment such as cameras, lights, and microphones, as well as post-production tools for editing, colour grading, motion graphics and visual effects, such as Davinci Resolve and Adobe After Effects. Industry mentorship is woven into as much of the year as possible. We work closely with producers from CBC and Bell MTS Fibe TV for documentary storytelling, and pair students with professional filmmakers to mentor and advise on narrative film projects. Students participate in professional training workshops and conferences, and we regularly bring in industry professionals to teach masterclasses on topics such as lighting, colour grading, editing, and visual effects. Additionally, students tour film studios, production companies, film sets, post-secondary options for those that choose to pursue further training.
